SCHICHT FÜR SCHICHT /LAYER BY LAYER
Vernissage: Thursday, 06 Februar 2025 at 19.00
“Those who go beneath the surface, do so at their peril.” These often-quoted words by Oscar Wilde are a warning, but also a challenge to look behind the scenes, to stare into the depths, to pull aside the curtains and remove the masks. What can be found there? Beauty? Chaos? The unvarnished truth? A wolf in sheep’s clothing, a buried treasure, or perhaps a long-hidden secret?
Visitors to this exhibition can look forward to discovering and deciphering a fascinatingly cryptic and multi-layered collection of paintings, photographs, objects and installations.
To explore this complex topic, Die Schlumper have invited two guest artists to contribute to the exhibition: the renowned Spanish photographer David Gómez Maestre, who composes striking images of ritual celebrations in various regions of Spain; and Addas Ahmad from Berlin, who will present some of his fanciful mask objects.
The following artists are participating in the exhibition: Addas Ahmad (Berlin), Mawuena Ahadzie, Magid Ajjane, Uwe Bender, Katharina Ellrich, David Gómez Maestre (Alicante), Tongtad Mahasuwan, Miriam Hosner, Janika Roth, Horst Wäßle, Klara Zwick, among others.
