HÄPPCHEN FÜR HUNGRIGE AUGEN
Opening: Friday 13 February 2026 at 7 p.m.
As is well known, human beings do not live by bread alone.
Food for the soul and nourishment for the mind are just as important.
Exploring the human relationship with food and nutrition has a long tradition in art.
The motif of eating and drinking is timeless, universal, and rich in symbolic meaning.
Once again, the Schlumper and their guests have taken on a theme that is both exciting and multi-layered, and for the current exhibition they have put together an artfully culinary menu.
On offer are unique specialties and rare delicacies. From tried-and-true home cooking to small treats and sophisticated new creations, there is something to suit every taste. Lovers of haute cuisine will be just as satisfied as fans of fast-food culture.
Some works need to be chewed over carefully. Others whet the appetite. Many promise moments of special delight.
By turns poetic, critical, and entertaining, the exhibition offers a deep look into the artists’ pots and pans.
What is brought to the table bears witness to creative pleasure and a certain joy in opulence and luxury. Carefree enjoyment is possible and encouraged. At the same time, an ironical take on decadence is also served: lavishly garnished, well-seasoned, and perfectly balanced.
These artistic “recipes” aren’t for the kitchen, but for the mind. You can chew over a tricky idea, crack a hard nut, or just pick up a bite-sized treat of inspiration to go.
In any case, everyone can feast their eyes to their heart’s content at the exhibition.
Participating in the exhibition are:
Mila von Bodelschwingh, Stefanie Bubert, David Fletcher, Michael Gerdsmann, Jessica Halm, Miriam Hosner, Bernhard Krebs, Tongtad Mahasuwan, Silke Marohn, Rabka Mehr, Horst Wäßle, u.a.
