As the dark season of the year begins, the Schlumper Galerie is presenting its new Fall and Winter collection.
Clothes not only make the man (or woman), they can also make art. The boundaries between design, craftsmanship, photography, architecture, music, literature, and art have for the most part disappeared, making possible an attractive and fascinating mix of these different disciplines. Fashion and art have more in common than one might suppose. A seemingly mundane and self-evident theme can be transformed in the hands of an artist. Creativity, artistic expression, and a feeling for style can and should be at home in daily life as well as the ivory tower.
Visitors will be struck by the great variety of the new outfits gracing the walls of the gallery. The current show features selected pieces from a wide range of styles. From casual to avant-garde, from minimalistic to opulent, from brand-new to vintage, from dernier cri to the tried and true, there is something for everyone here. The broad color palette is cheerful and optimistic, but there are also unexpected undertones and associations. The pieces are available in sizes S to L, but nothing is off-the-rack. Every object is an exclusive and unique creation from the Schlumper atelier, each one a potential classic. (Dagmar Detlefsen)

Die Galerie zeigt in der diesjährigen Sommerausstellung Arbeiten dreier Künstler:innen aus dem Atelier der Schlumper.
Gemeinsam teilen sie die Vorliebe für leuchtende Farbigkeit und starke Kontraste.
Die Malerei von Miriam Hosner, figürliche Darstellungen – inspiriert von Modefotografien, werden den abstrakten Kompositionen von Birte Seidensticker und Magid Ajjane gegenüber gestellt.

Die Akademie23 ist eine interdisziplinäre, inklusive Sommerakademie und die bisher größte in Deutschland. An der Projektwoche vom 24. bis zum 28. Juli 2023 haben Künstler*innen mit Behinderung oder psychischer Erkrankung und Studierende gemeinsam an künstlerisch-praktischen Projekten gearbeitet.
Teilgenommen haben die Ateliers Atelier23 (Gießen), Geyso20 (Braunschweig), Idyllerei (Nürnberg), Kaethe:K (Puhlheim), Die Schlumper (Hamburg) und THIKWA (Berlin), Studierende des Instituts für Kunstpädagogik und des Instituts für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft Gießen sowie des Instituts für Performative Praxis, Kunst und Bildung Braunschweig.
Die Ergebnisse der Akademie23 werden in diesem Sommer in einer gemeinsamen Ausstellung in Gießen präsentiert. Aus dem Atelier der Schlumper sind Benjamin Langner und Thorsten Raab beteiligt.

This spring, the Schlumper Gallery will present a small retrospective showcasing many previously unknown works by the artist Klara Zwick (1927-2003), who passed away in 2003. Klara Zwick joined the studio collective in 1984 at Stadthaus Schlump and worked primarily in the Thedestraße studio in Hamburg-Altona from 1997 to 2003.
Klara Zwick drew daily, whether in the studio or elsewhere while on the move. She always carried small notebooks in her handbag, which were known as “handbag books” and have been exhibited in several shows. Zwick often incorporated numbers and writing in the form of invoices and letter elements into her works. Almost always, her own name appears as a stylistic element or signature in the image. Klara became Clara, Klrara, Klärchen, and Klörchen — or she simply signed as Zwick.
Over the years, in addition to countless drawings, many paintings, collages, and prints, she also created wonderful textile works. Many of her pieces are now in private collections. A large painting from 1988, titled Die Engel kommen runter (“The Angels are Coming Down”), was acquired by the Günther and Annemarie Gercken Foundation in 2016 and is now under the care of the State Art Collections in Dresden.
